Quinten Hermans and Michael Vanthourenhout he left 25 and 54 seconds behind. In total, he defeated six Belgians in one go. Wout van Aert, Mathieu van der Poel and Tom Pidcock did not start.

Brand flexes her muscles

world champion Lucinda Brand has now also secured the title at the European Championships after the World Cup crown. The Dutchwoman, who had been left behind more often recently, was completely her old self again this time. Kata Blanka Vas from Hungary and Yara Kastelijn of the Netherlands, 56 and 62 seconds back respectively, didn't stand a chance. The only German starter was Elizabeth Brandau, who finished the race in 18th place.
