Cycling: Today, Thursday, Tour boss Christian Prudhomme presented the route of the Tour de France 2022. The 109th edition of the Grand Boucle covers a total of 3.328 kilometers with two time trials and five mountain finishes.
The Tour de France 2022 visits Switzerland
Tadej Pogacar, Julian Alaphilippe and Mark Cavendish were the most prominent guests at the Palais des Congrès when tour boss Christian Prudhomme presented the route of the 2022 Tour de France. And all three are likely to have discovered a stage or two that could suit them as they race clockwise from north to south through France between July 1st and July 24th. On the route, which is 3.328 kilometers long in total, the pros will also make detours to Belgium and Switzerland. The 109th edition will start in Denmark. The Tour de France 2022 will thus ensure the northernmost start in history.
We can look forward to Alpe d'Huez
The 2022 Tour de France will start in Denmark's capital Copenhagen. In a 13-kilometer time trial, which shows us the most beautiful sights of the city, the first wearer of the yellow jersey will be determined. After a few more days in Denmark, a transfer takes place over almost 1.000 kilometers to the north of France. There, among other things, 20 kilometers of cobblestones await the pros and over the course of three weeks a total of 6 flat stages, 7 hilly sections and 6 mountain stages with 5 mountain tops, the first of which is on the 7th section up to La Planche des Belles Filles. The next day we go to Lake Geneva. The 12th stage offers us a special highlight when we climb up to Alpe d'Huez on the French national holiday of all days. Stages 17 and 18 lead into the Pyrenees. In Peyragudes and Hautacam, the best climbers in the world fight for the day's victory and probably also for the yellow jersey. The final decision ultimately provokes a 40-kilometer individual time trial on the penultimate day. As usual, the Tour de France 2022 ends on the Champs-Élysées in Paris.
