Cape Epic #4: Becking / Dias win the stage, Seewald / Stosek retires

21 October 2021 by Michael Behringer

Cape Epic

Cycling: stage win for Hans Becking / José Dias. The Dutch-Portuguese duo has won the fourth stage of the Absa Cape Epic. Jordan Sarrou / Matthew Beers remain in the lead in the overall standings. Their worst rivals Andreas Seewald / Martin Stosek had to give up the race.

Frey / Stiebjahn stay tuned

unlucky for Andrew Seewald. The German, who shared yesterday's stage with Martin Stosek was able to win, is now a lone fighter in the Absa Cape Epic. His Czech partner suffers from stomach pains and had to retire from the race. The duo is still in the lead Jordan Sarrou/Matthew Beers. The Frenchman and the South African lost just 43,4 seconds to the day's winners today Hans Becking / Jose Dias. However, as the Dutchman and Portuguese are far behind in the overall standings, they were able to further extend their lead in the overall standings. The Bulls duo Martin Frey / Simon Stiebjahn is now 6:42,0 minutes behind. The podium is currently completed by the Italians Samuele Porro / Fabian Rabensteiner.

Frei / Stigger continue their series

There is still nothing new to report for women. The Swiss-Austrian duo Sina Frei / Laura Stigger still doesn't give the competition the slightest chance. On the fourth stage, the two already clinched their fifth day win in a row. In the overall standings they are already ahead by more than 17 minutes.
