Product news: Less weight, better aerodynamics and more comfort at the same time, the new Merida Scultura wants to combine all of this. Traditionally, it remains true to its lightweight construction and has been able to drastically reduce air resistance and even raise comfort to a new level through intensive development work. The latest and already 5th generation of the Merida Scultura has already won four WorldTours.
The Merida Scultura has been an integral part of the German manufacturer's racing bike portfolio since 2006 and has always stood for low weight and a classic racing bike look. In addition, the Scultura is also one of the most successful bikes on the market in terms of victories and placements and is still a popular choice among the pros.
The goal when developing the new Merida Scultura was to make a proven climber even faster, which was particularly aimed at improving aerodynamics. Nevertheless, the new frame is more than 4% lighter than its predecessor. In addition, the comfort with a tire clearance of up to 30 mm could be significantly improved. In addition, there is a more exposed seat post, which should provide additional comfort.
As already announced, the biggest changes were in the area of aerodynamics. Thanks to full cable integration, the use of a one-piece cockpit, the revised head tube and fork profile and the lowered attachment points of the seatstays, the new Merida Scultura is also said to be significantly more aerodynamic. Test results show that the air resistance has been improved by around ten watts compared to the previous model. Thus, the new Scultura still seems to be a versatile and light all-rounder and at the same time adapts to the contemporary demands of a modern racing bike.
As previously mentioned, the fifth generation of the Merida Scultura Team continued the winning streak since the day it was handed over to Team Bahrain Victorious. Two stages at the Critérium du Dauphiné (Mark Padun), one stage at the Tour de France (Dylan Teuns) and most recently a stage at the Vuelta a España (Damiano Caruso) have already been won with the newcomer to the Merida road bike lineup.
