August 2, 2021 by Michael Behringer

Friedrich Hinze Olympic Games team sprint

Cycling: The track cycling competitions at the Olympic Games in Tokyo have started successfully. Lea Sophie Friedrich and Emma Hinze secured the silver medal in the team sprint. Only the ladies from China were better.

Friedrich & Hinze are happy about silver

With a strong imagination have themselves Leo Sophie Friedrich and Emma Hinze won the silver medal in the team sprint. While the German duo was the fastest in qualifying with a 32,102, they were trumped by the Chinese in the quarter-finals. Shanju Bao and Tianshi Zhiong were able to set a new world record with a 31,804. So they went into the final sprint as clear favorites. They couldn't top their best there again, but with a 31,895 they came close again. Leo Sophie Friedrich and Emma Hinze were beaten by just 0,085 seconds after being three tenths down on the timekeeping earlier. The Russians took bronze Anastasia Voinova and Daria Shmeleva by a relatively clear success in front of the Dutch women.
