Uvex helmet update: Smart and safe helmets

July 27, 2021 by the editorial office

Product news: The helmet, probably the most important accessory when it comes to your own safety while cycling. But in the meantime, the helmet should not only protect in the event of an impact and optimally dissipate the kinetic energy generated there. Helmets should also not let it get that far. This drives innovation and Uvex brings a helmet update for city cyclists and mountain bikers!

Uvex City light helmet: maximum visibility

City traffic has its pitfalls, especially at dusk and in the dark. In order to prevent a possible fall by careless road users, Uvex integrates 32 LEDs into the tried-and-tested city helmet to ensure maximum safety. Depending on the light level, the integrated battery lasts 6 - 12 hours. The entire technology for the lighting is located in a small plug-in module at the back of the head, which also has the charging interface. But the Uvex City Light helmet not only lights up actively, but also passively thanks to reflective straps.

Thanks to the integrated lighting, you are also clearly visible in the twilight.

Uvex Finale light 2.0 helmet: Sporty and with automatic light

A simple idea with a big effect: the automatic light function, which many people only know from their cars, is now also available for the first time in a Uvex bicycle helmet. An innovative light sensor records the ambient brightness and controls the LED lighting fully automatically. Depending on the light situation, the 40 LED spotlights integrated in the helmet shell are switched on or off. They glow blue on the side and red on the back of the head. It doesn't matter whether it's in a tunnel or at dusk - the helmet reacts independently and thus guarantees maximum visibility in road traffic. A battery charge lasts up to 12 hours. The helmet can then be easily recharged via micro-USB. The Uvex finale light 2.0 comes with 19 ventilation openings for first-class climate management and is cut significantly lower than conventional models for additional protection at the back of the head.

For MIPS to work, the helmet must above all fit perfectly. That's why the Uvex City i-vo is equipped with the 3D IAS system for optimal adjustment in height and width. 24 ventilation channels keep your head pleasantly cool, even on longer journeys.
