Spectrum: It is well known that the police in our inner cities are increasingly relying on bicycle squadrons. No wonder, because the two-wheeled cops find it easy to get to the scene and arrest criminals, even on bike paths and in chaotic traffic. The Osnabrück police department is no longer enough.
Always on the ball in city traffic
A 12-month test phase recently started in the city. The police are testing for the first time three S-Pedelecs on duty. The big advantage already results from the possible Top speed of up to 45 km/h, with which the bike cops can easily keep track of even motorized sinners in city traffic.
The real special feature, however, is that two of the three bikes were specially converted for the police service by a local company. Showpiece is one Special signaling system with blue lights and siren. So if you're going to be cycling in Osnabrück in the near future, don't be surprised if a bike patrol with blue lights and sirens overtakes you.
State-of-the-art e-fleet of the Osnabrück police force
The competent authority paid a lot for the conversion. To the about 5.500 Euro for the basic version of the ST3 bikes come from Stromer approx. 2.000 euros for the conversion. If the strip bikes prove themselves, further procurements will probably follow in the future.
In any case, the Stromer would fit into the vehicle concept of the police direct. After all, the vehicle fleet of the directorate responsible from the East Frisian Islands to the Teutoburg Forest includes the 3 speed pedelecs to 3 electric motorcycles, 46 pedelecs, 38 E-patrol car and Lower Saxony's first hydrogen-powered patrol car.
