SKS Airstep Digi: Novelty: Ergonomic, digital foot pump

26 May 2021 by the editorial office

Test/Accessories: The traditional German manufacturer has had the classic Airstep in its range for a long time. Now it is supplemented by the SKS Airstep Digi, which is just the right thing for all those who value the perfect air pressure. Ultimately, Digi stands for digital and that is what the display with a digital manometer does.

Fully digital with a pressure gauge for BAR and PSI.

SKS Airstep Digi: accuracy and handling

Thanks to the digital manometer, the air pressure in the bicycle tire can be adjusted to the second decimal place. And it's surprisingly easy to do with foot actuation. A bit skeptical and reserved at first, a little practice brings joy and precision with it. Once you get the hang of it, air pressure adjustment is extremely easy and surprisingly quick. When it comes to small volume tires. With large-volume MTB tires, a floor pump is certainly a little faster, but in direct comparison, the Airstep Digi is much more comfortable to use.

The print can be read perfectly in bright orange letters on the black LED display. The first-class sensor technology with a deviation tolerance of max. 1,5% guarantees high measuring accuracy and thus ensures the optimal setting of the tire pressure.

Absolutely accurate. The BAR display goes to the second decimal place.

SKS Airstep Digi: Technical details

Even in the high air pressure range, the Airstep Digi is still easy to operate, because it has to be with a maximum air pressure of 7 bar.

  • Weight 1400g
  • Connections: AV, SV, DV
  • Max air pressure: 7 BAR / 102 PSI
  • Deviation tolerance: max 1,5%
  • RRP: € 79,99

SKS Airstep Digi: handling

When it comes to handling, the developers have really thought about it. At first glance, the air pump is extremely compact and can be easily and quickly stowed in the car for a visit to the bike park, for example. The pump can also be stowed “folded up” by means of a lock, the hose also finds its place around the display and everything is super tidy. Last but not least, the mouthpiece can be snapped directly onto the pump and nothing flies around. Simply practical and well thought out!

The SKS Airstep Digi is a compact air pump that takes up little space in the car and is always with you when you travel. The digital display shows the air pressure in bar or PSI up to the second decimal place and you always have full control over the air pressure driven. Because it is a foot pump, the air pump also scores in terms of ergonomics. Pumping is comfortable and easy without much effort. The only thing is that the small stroke means that with large-volume tires you are pumping for a relatively long time. It is ideally suited as a pump for the bike park or workshop and is also relatively inexpensive at 79 euros.
