Giro d'Italia teams 2021

Cycling: Tomorrow there will be the first mass sprint at the Giro d'Italia. Who will win the Sprint Royal in Novara? We're guessing Caleb Ewan.

Giro d'Italia Stage 2 Preview

Mass Sprint in Novara

After the time trial specialists had their turn today, it will be the classic sprinters' turn tomorrow. On the 179 km long course from Stupinigi to Novara there are hardly any obstacles to overcome. Only a mountain classification of the fourth category is on the program for the middle of the stage. Even the sprinters won't have any problems with that. So the day's victory will ultimately be a matter for the sprinters. In the Sprint Royal there are finally some candidates who could win the stage.

Velomotion Prognosis: Caleb Ewan is the fastest man

This year wants Caleb ewan contest all three major national tours. The Giro d'Italia is followed by the Tour de France and then the Vuelta a Espana. His big goal is to win stages in all three Grand Tours. He could start tomorrow in Novara. With his starters Roger Kluge and Jasper de Buyst, he can count on what is probably the best support of all sprinters. But the competition is big. Above all Fernando Gaviria will object. The Colombian also has a strong sprinter train. Can do without this Peter Sagan complete, but the three-time world champion is still to be taken seriously. Above all, we can be excited Dylan Groenewegen. Can the Dutchman fight for the day's victory in a mass sprint on his comeback?

☆☆☆ Caleb ewan (Lotto – Soudal)
☆ ☆ Fernando Gaviria (UAE), Peter Sagan (Bora – hansgrohe)
☆ Tim Merlier (Alpecin-Fenix), James Nizzolo (Qhubeka – Assos), Matteo Moschetti (Trek – Segafredo)
