Jeep Electric Bikes 2021: Big name, cheap bikes

19 April 2021 by Michael Faiss

Product news: With Jeep, another extremely well-known manufacturer from the world of four wheels recently started in the field of e-bikes. In the very first year, there are numerous models from different categories - from e-MTBs to city cruisers. Interesting: In contrast to other names in the automotive sector, Jeep relies on a low price and solid components.

Jeep E-MTBs

Hardly any other brand name stands for off-road fun as clearly as Jeep. It is therefore not surprising that the Jeep e-bike range also includes two e-MTBs for off-road excursions. Both models are hardtails without rear suspension, so you should be a bit more comfortable on the trail. However, the bikes are not designed for full-throttle action anyway - rather for enjoyable e-bike tours on which you don't want to be held up by a few roots.

The Jeep E-MTBs are based on a slim aluminum frame whose down tube houses a 374 Wh battery that can also be removed for charging. The compact hub motor in the rear delivers a maximum of 40 Nm and remains pleasantly quiet. Thanks to the suspension fork you also get a lot of comfort, with the MHFR you can even look forward to wide fat tires that generate even more traction and absorb shocks. The choice of components is appropriate for the price and overall rather simple: a Shimano Altus derailleur meets mechanical disc brakes, which, however, know how to decelerate sufficiently when the speed is adjusted.

Jeep trekking electric bikes

Jeep also has two trekking e-bikes in its range for pleasure tourers and everyday bikers. They differ primarily in the shape of the frame: while the Jeep TMR 7000 relies on a classic diamond frame, the TLR 7000 has a lower step-through. The combination of quietly rolling 28-inch tires and a suspension fork promises sufficient comfort for gravel and smooth driving behavior on asphalt. Here, too, the motor delivers a whisper-quiet 40 Nm and the 374 Wh battery can be removed. You are well equipped for everyday life thanks to the mudguards, the luggage rack and a lighting system. Even an adjustable stem is included as standard.

Jeep folding e-bikes

Folding e-bikes are still a niche - that's not surprising: Even if you halve the dimensions by folding, the weight remains the same. You certainly don't want to prance lightly over stairs with it. Even Jeep cannot overturn the laws of physics, but there are still exciting areas of application for such variable e-bikes. Thanks to their small 20-inch wheels, they can be transported free of charge on most public transport. Folding e-bikes are also extremely popular among campers, after all they take up little space in the mobile home or caravan and are the perfect means of transport during the holiday.

But Jeep wouldn't be Jeep if folding e-bikes weren't given a good dose of off-road capability. All models are equipped with suspension forks and roll on thick tires between 3 and 4 inches. The 40 Nm motor is sufficient for most tours and remains virtually invisible even in the small wheels. There are differences in the battery capacity, which varies from 280 Wh to 378 Wh depending on the model - you should decide here depending on the area of application.

Jeep electric bike for teenagers

Initially viewed critically, e-bikes for children and teenagers are becoming increasingly popular. That's not surprising, because family tours are possible in every constellation - whether the parents are on the road with or without motor support, the offspring can still keep up. The TR 7002 is an attractively priced and well-rounded E-MTB with 24 inch wheels and the hub motor known from the other bikes. The battery is a little smaller at 280 Wh, but the weight is pleasingly low at 21,5 kg.

Jeep cruiser electric bike

Stylish on the go: Jeep also has two classic city cruisers in its e-bike portfolio for this season. The only difference between the two models is the color of the frame – green or blue. Otherwise, in both cases you get the same drive system as the other Jeep e-bikes with the 40 Nm hub motor and an integrated battery, which has a capacity of 374 Wh. Thanks to the super-wide tires, you can look forward to a decent level of comfort despite the lack of a suspension fork, even on gravel or bad bike paths.
