Cycling: Rohan Dennis has won the prologue of the Tour de Romandie. The Australian was 4,05 seconds faster than Geraint Thomas on the 8-kilometer course. The podium, completely occupied by Ineos Grenadiers, makes Richie Porte perfect.

The 4,05th Tour de Romandie opened today with a 75 kilometer prologue in Oron. As expected, the start should be a matter for the specialists. Ultimately, Tuesday became an Ineos day. Rohan Dennis (Ineos Grenadiers) won ahead of his teammates Geraint Thomas (Ineos Greandiers) and Richie porte (Ineos Grenadiers). The former time trial world champion was able to take a whopping 8 seconds from the two on the short distance. The Swiss Stephen Bissegger (EF – Nippo) just missed out on the home podium in fifth. The performance of the reigning time trial world champion was somewhat disappointing Filippo Gana (Ineos Grenadiers). The Italian was 15 seconds slower than the day's winner.

The Tour de Romandie is heavily occupied

Last year, the Tour de Romandie had to be canceled due to the corona pandemic. 2018 and 2019 was the Slovenian Primois Roglic (Jumbo – Visma) successful. This season, too, the tour of western Switzerland is mainly used to prepare for the Giro d'Italia. With among other things Geraint Thomas (Ineos Grenadiers), Steven Kruijswijk (Jumbo – Visma), Marc Hirschi (UAE), Peter Sagan (Bora – hansgrohe), Chris Froome (Israel Start Up Nation), Marc Soler (Movistar) and Philip Gilbert (Lotto – Soudal) the 75th Tour de Romandie has a top-class cast. After a few mountainous stages, it ends on Sunday with a time trial in Fribourg.
