Product news: The first Speedplay pedals were invented 31 years ago in a Californian garage. Based on the basic concept and the technology from 1989, a new lineup has been developed together with Wahoo, which consists of a total of four options for all racing cyclists and triathletes and offers maximum performance and, of course, entry on both sides.
The new Wahoo Speedplay pedal lineup continues to build on the same proven Speedplay technology pioneered in 1989. The great feature: Speedplay pedals are the only high-performance pedals in the world that have been specially developed for road cycling and triathlon without resorting to concepts and technologies from other sports. Speedplay also has the advantage that you can join on both sides.
Some details on the new lineup have been revised for better performance and durability. The models have a lower stack height and better aerodynamics than other systems, as well as an adjustable freedom of movement on all cleats from 0-15 degrees. When it comes to stepping in, the details have also been fine-tuned and there are two shoe plate options: Standard Tensio and Easy Tension. Sealed bearings that do not require regular maintenance ensure increased durability of the revised pedal body.
The new Wahoo Speedplay pedal lineup
The new Wahoo Speedplay line includes the Comp version for 149,99 euros, the Speedplay Zero version for 229,99 euros and the top Speedplay Nano pedal with a carbon body and titanium axle for 449,99 euros. For triathletes and time trial specialists, the Speedplay Aero is a streamlined model for 279,99 euros.
“I have trusted Speedplay for a large part of my career because they are so reliable and offer the ability to customize the position of my foot. I ride 20.000km a year and the improvements that Wahoo have made to the pedals give me peace of mind that my pedals are still working perfectly and ensure my biomechanics are working at the key point of contact with the bike” – Ironman World Champion Jan Frodeno to the new Wahoo Speedplay update.
The Wahoo Speedplay pedals offer advantages over other pedal systems, especially in terms of weight, aerodynamics and adjustability of the shoe plate system.
Wahoo Speedplay power meter on hold
With the Wahoo Speedplay Powrlink Zero, the world's first double-sided pedal-based power meter will be launched in summer 2021. Wahoo will also introduce a fifth pedal, which will complete the new lineup this summer.
