Titanium MyTi: Innovative titanium pedal from the 3D printer

March 24, 2021 by the editorial office

Product news: With the MyTi clipless pedal, the newly established team at Titanium GmbH celebrates its premiere on the bicycle component market. The MyTi should not only be light and incredibly stable, it should also be flexible for use on racing bikes or mountain bikes. All this is made possible by Rico de Wert's ingenuity and a 3D printer.

Titanium MyTi: How it all started

Rico de Wert, passionate cyclist and creator of the "MyTi" clipless pedal, has already designed and developed for many well-known companies in the bike industry. In 2020 he met Matthias Scharvogel, CEO of Element22*, through a mutual acquaintance from the industry. An intensive exchange began about Rico's idea for a new innovative clipless pedal design. Element22 was excited about the idea of 3D printing the pedal and cleats out of titanium.

After the production of the first prototypes, it was clear that the Element22 process is perfectly suited for the series production of the pedal. The first milestone of a working prototype was quickly reached, so that the pedal was extensively scrutinized by many experienced test riders on mountain bikes, road bikes and gravel bikes. Everyone is enthusiastic about the optimal connection to the bike, to be one with the bike.

Titanium MyTi: The highlights

  • Pedals and cleats made of titanium using innovative 3D printing
  • With 100g per pair of pedals the lightest system on the market
  • Intuitive click mechanism with patented leaf spring technology
  • 7,8mm height (incl. 4-hole mount), usable on both sides
  • Suitable for MTB and road bike thanks to 2, 3 or 4-hole mount
  • Certified according to ISO 4210-8:2014 (EFBE GmbH, Waltrop)
  • No rider weight limit

Titanum will be putting the Kickstarter campaign online shortly with the goal of ramping up production and seeing the pedals on the bikes of the first backers. The price of the pedals will be market oriented.
