Cycling: Phil Bauhaus has won the fourth and final stage of the Tour de la Provence. The German defeated Davide Ballerini in a bunch sprint. John Degenkolb was fifth. The overall win goes to Ivan Sosa.
Bauhaus celebrates first win of the season
As expected, the 6th Tour de la Provence ended with a mass sprint. Phil Bauhaus (Bahrain - Victourious) was able to get ahead of the two-time stage winner on the 163,2-long section from Avignon to Salon de Provence David Ballerini (Deceuninck – Quick-Step) prevail. However, the teams of the fast men had to put in a lot of work because a strong breakaway group - including with Luis Mas (Movistar) – was able to resist being caught for a long time.
Sosa takes the overall win
The overall victory left Ivan Sosa (Ineos), who won yesterday's stage up Mont Ventoux. World champion behind the Colombian Julian Alaphilippe (Deceuninck – Quick-Step) Second place. He picked up after an intermediate sprint Egan Bernal (Ineos) over. Austria Patrick Conrad (Bora – hansgrohe) finishes the Tour de la Provence in fifth place overall.
