Shimano helps with technical problems

The performance is a nightmare for professional cyclists. In the decisive phase of the race, they suffer a technical defect, but the team vehicle is too far away. The wait is taking too long. Fast help is necessary. Now the neutral technical service is in demand. For professional cyclists, it can be the last resort in difficult situations. Equipped with entire bicycles on the roof and manned by trained mechanics, a blue Shimano car will come to the rescue in the future.

The Japanese manufacturer of bicycle components and accessories is expanding its cooperation with the ASO this season. Already active at the Vuelta a Espana Shimano also in the future Tour de France to the helpful companion. We will also see the blue escort vehicle at the classics Paris - Roubaix, Liège - Bastogne - Liège, Paris - Tours and the Flèche Wallonne.

100 years of company history, 20 years of experience

By expanding this partnership, Shimano is giving itself a great gift. The company is celebrating its 100th anniversary this season. The Japanese manufacturer has been familiar with neutral technical support for cycling races for 20 years. The accumulated experience and technical know-how should now be of help at all ASO events in the World Tour, Continental and women's races.

This is of course manufacturer-neutral. That means: No matter which manufacturer the professional cyclist is equipped with a defect - Shimano will provide help with the right spare part. Shimano is already doing this at the Vuelta a Espana and the Giro d'Italia. The commitment as a technical support service can originally be traced back to the Tour of Flanders and the Amstel Gold Race. For the first time this season we will see the blue cars in the Paris – Nice long-distance race, which will start on Sunday March 7th in Saint-Cyr-l'École.

taizo shimano, Shimano Inc. Executive Vice President:
“The cooperation with the OSA. gives Shimano the opportunity to support the sport even more and to help athletes to perform at their best.”

Yann Le Moenner, Managing Director of OSA:
"The innovative strength and consistently high quality level that the brand has demonstrated over the 100 years of its existence makes Shimano a decisive player in global cycling as well as for everyday cyclists and a brand that we are proud of as a partner."

We finally join the biggest race in the world and we're not even there to win it. Proud to help out all teams and riders in all @amaurysport men's and women's races which now includes @LeTour, prestigious classics such as @Paris_Roubaix, @LiegeBastogneL, and events as Roc d'Azur pic.twitter.com/dr6mC0ppmE
