City E-Bikes: These are your favorites for 2021
Not boring! City e-bikes have a reputation for being conservative, but your choice clearly shows that this is by no means the rule: With the Simplon Chenoa Bosch CX, a really unusual bike was able to secure victory: thanks to its carbon frame and the lack of a suspension fork It is very light despite the large battery and powerful motor - not to mention the great look. The UD3 All Terrain from HNF Nicolai takes a different approach, but its massive aluminum frame doesn't look any less pretty - but different! In addition, it scores with thick tires and a suspension fork when it comes to comfort. The last remaining podium place was secured by the Pegasus Premio 5f, which wants to score points in particular when it comes to reliability: The hydraulic Magura rim brakes, among other things, speak for this.
The Chenoa Bosch CX is a real high-end all-rounder. The frame shows the great know-how that Simplon has in the field of carbon processing. Despite the large 625 Wh battery, powerful Bosch CX motor and full equipment including luggage rack and lighting, the versatile bike weighs less than 20 kilograms, depending on the equipment. Great details such as the lines and cables routed through the headset round off the premium impression.
Price: 5.549 euros – 6.999 euros

The sporty step-through bike with an edgy technical look causes a stir with its powerful engine and components from the MTB sector. 100 mm suspension forks and 27,5 inch wheels bring comfort and riding safety, the Bosch CX pushes hard in every situation and has a very long range with a 625 Wh battery. The drive is combined with advanced gear hubs - either continuously variable or with the 14 evenly spaced gears of the Rohloff Speedhub. There are many options when it comes to equipment, so that practically every HNF Nicolai is unique.
Prices: 4.576,64 – 6.079,69 euros

HNF Nicolai UD3 and XD3: The new city e-bikes from HNF Nicolai!
E-Performance: With the XD3 and UD3 All-Terrain, the e-bike specialist from Biesenthal near Berlin is presenting two new all-rounders with the new fourth-generation Bosch Performance CX drive. HNF Nicolai has understood that not only the electric drive makes up an e-bike, but also that the frame, geometry and components are part of the optimal e-bike concept. On […]
The successful model from Pegasus shines with powerful drive power and easy-to-use technology. The special five-speed gear hub is designed for the high loads on the mid-engine and is graded in such a way that only a few gears are needed from starting to cruising speed. Extremely short mountain gears are missing - you don't need them on an e-bike anyway. The all-rounder, available in three frame shapes, has an internal battery and is available in numerous variants, right through to the top model with belt drive and hydraulic ABS brakes.
Prices: 3.099 – 4.099 euros

Urban e-bikes: these are your favorites for 2021
They should be slim, stylish and hip, the modern urban e-bikes. If you look at your top 3, you could say: That's right! But there is still a lot more to tell, which is not only shown by the superior winner, the MTB cycletech Souplesse GP, which not only scores points visually, but also technically with its Pinion gearbox. The Kalkhoff Endeavor 7B Pure is not quite as slim and minimalistic, but all the more elegant, which not only has a lot of power under the hood, but is also the first e-bike from Magura with brakes integrated into the handlebars. The Stellar from Ampler goes full e-bike undercover, which is not recognizable as an electrified bike at first glance, but probably hardly at second glance.
If you are looking for a stylish and technically and conceptually innovative e-bike for the city - yes, you should take a close look at the Souplesse from MTB Cycletec. The visually inconspicuous bike is powered by a whisper-quiet hub motor with up to 40 Nm and a 250 Wh battery in the down tube. The highlight of the Souplesse, however, is probably the gears: Here you rely on a maintenance-free Pinion gearbox in combination with a Gates carbon belt.
Price: 4.199 euros – 4.499 euros

The Endeavor 7.B in its "Pure" version moves somewhere between urban, city and trekking bike: The electronic Shimano XT Di2 gears as well as the powerful CX motor from Bosch prove the sporty streak of the Kalkhoff e-bike, while it with its stylish, simple look, also feels at home among urban bikes. The Magura brake system integrated into the handlebars is a real highlight here. The voluminous Schwalbe tires ensure a lot of comfort despite the built-in rigid fork and thanks to the luggage rack, mudguards and lighting you are well prepared for everyday life.
Price: € 5.499

Ampler Bikes from Estonia can be described as urban e-bike pioneers with a clear conscience. The Stellar is one of the most successful and still one of the most interesting models in the portfolio. Its full equipment, including lighting and luggage rack, makes the bike, which is driven by a hub motor and weighs just over 17 kg, a great all-rounder. Hard to believe: the very slim down tube houses a 336 Wh battery that unfortunately cannot be removed.
Price: € 2.489

Test Ampler Stellar: Beauty that comes from within
A bike that offers electric assistance and doesn't look like an e-bike? Ampler makes that wish a reality with the Stellar; The young company manages to avoid the disadvantages of conventional electric bikes. Digitization is well advanced in Estonia; the level of education is high and the country’s students rank very high in the PISA […]
Compact e-bikes: these are your favorites for 2021
Compact e-bikes are becoming increasingly popular, especially in large cities and metropolitan areas. In practice, they have two very decisive advantages over "full-grown" representatives: you can take most of them with you on local public transport free of charge, and on the other hand, they require significantly less space in the apartment if there is no bicycle cellar or garage.
With the Upstreet1, the e-bike specialists at Flyer are launching one of the most comfortable compact e-bikes into the season. Not only the pleasingly low step-through speaks for this, but also the large-volume tires and the spring support installed in all equipment variants. Either a Bosch Active Line Plus or Performance drive provides support so that things move quickly despite all the comfort. Positive: The motors combined with a 500 Wh battery are among the quietest on the market.
Price: 3.499 euros – 3.999 euros
The puristic Radius can set itself apart from other compact bikes simply by the choice of drive system. Winora relies on the very reliable and, with a maximum of 70 Nm, also quite powerful Yamaha PW-ST motor in connection with a 500 Wh battery. With the folding pedals and handlebars that can be rotated by 90°, it can also be stored in a very space-saving manner - whether in the garage or in the apartment.
Price: € 2.799
The additional weight of the motor and battery is more noticeable in hardly any other category of bike than in a folding bike, which is regularly lifted. Hercules has taken on this problem with the new Futura Fold Carbon - here a carbon fiber frame meets the light Fazua drive innovatively integrated in the seat tube. The Futura Carbon, which also looks very elegant, is certainly one of the lightest e-folding bikes on the market. Nice: Hercules offers numerous equipment variants, with derailleur or hub gears, the latter even with a back pedal.
Price: 3.499 euros – 5.999 euros
