Cycling: For the third time in a row and for the fourth time in total, Mathieu van der Poel celebrates the title at the World Cycling Championships. In Ostend he was able to relegate his main rival Wout van Aert to second place.

hat trick for Mathieu van der Poel! The exceptional Dutch talent celebrates his third world title in a row. In Ostend, the Dutchman didn't deliver a flawless performance, but it was an all the more impressive performance. After closing a small gap on lap one wout van aert he then even fell in a muddy passage. A preliminary decision seemed to have been made right at the start – but the spectators were wrong about this assessment. Mathieu van der Poel was able to slightly reduce the gap to Wout van Aert until he suffered a puncture on lap three and had to relinquish the lead. The Belgian was no longer able to close the small gap to the Dutchman. On the contrary. Due to several driving errors in the sand, the gap grew bigger and bigger.

The Oranje secured the gold medal in all four competitions.
