The German manufacturer Evoc has been producing backpacks for mountain bikes, snow and travel for over ten years. The Munich-based company takes the safety of its customers to heart and is constantly developing its integrated back protectors. With the Evoc Neo 16l they offer a backpack that not only has enough storage space, but also provides proper protection and well-ventilated comfort with the new Air-Shield System.

Bright color and skilful design
Our test backpack came in a bright chili red, which we really liked. The Neo is also available in carbon gray and gold.
At first glance, the discreetly offset Evoc logo and the geometric shapes on the front catch the eye. The gray offers a skilful contrast to the bright main color. The smooth upper material offers good water-repellent properties and can be easily washed down with the garden hose after a muddy tour.
Free crash replacement for the protector
The Airshield is the heart of the NEO. With years of experience, Evoc has developed a comfortable and well-ventilated back protector that is comfortable to wear and provides sufficient safety (TÜV/GS-certified). A small disadvantage of the back protection is the slightly higher basic weight, which, thanks to the well thought-out and padded carrying straps and waist belt, is not noticeable when the backpack is full.
Evoc takes the safety of its customers to heart and offers its own replacement service to exchange the protector after a fall.
- The procedure is very simple: if you have a broken or permanently deformed EVOC LITESHIELD (AIR), AIRSHIELD or LITESHIELD PLUS BACK PROTECTOR, fill out the Evoc form. Send them your protector after they contact you.
- Evoc will check the protector and, if necessary, send you a new protector in the right size. And that for free!
Systematic storage space
The adjustable helmet carrying system on the front offers enough space, support and adjustment options for different shapes and sizes. Behind it is the tool compartment, which with its small compartments and loops ensures well-organized storage of multi-tools, pumps and hoses.
The spacious main compartment of the Evoc Neo 16 offers enough space for a day tour. On our last home trail lap, in addition to a rain jacket and drinks, we also had the large camera with several lenses with us and had enough space for it. A positive aspect was that the NEO never lost its shape on the back, even when fully loaded, and that no unpleasant bulges formed. Inside the main compartment, in addition to the mesh compartment for valuables, there is also a subdivision for a water bladder or laptop; convenient for commuters.
The drinking tube can be placed through the opening in the back wall of the bag to the shoulder straps and pulled through loops on the left or right. Clips for quick access would have been nice here.
