Test / E-Performance: An entry-level e-bike with full suspension? The Bulls Copperhead family has always represented good features at an even better price. This is exactly how the Bulls Copperhead EVO AM1 e-bike should line up. Depending on the equipment, the full suspension e-mountain bike starts at €3.199 and comes with an air suspension fork and the powerful Bosch Performance Line CX drive. We were allowed to test the e-bike intensively.
Bulls Copperhead EVO AM1: The first impression
The absolute first impression is typically Bulls clean and well made. But even on closer inspection, the designers and product managers have thought of something. Thanks to the integrated cable routing, the e-bike not only looks tidier, the cables also benefit in terms of durability.
Not only are the cables neatly integrated, the Bosch PowerTube battery can also be used well hidden in the down tube. When ordering the Bulls Copperhead EVO AM1, you can choose between three different battery sizes. 400 Wh are selected as standard and 500 or 626 Wh capacity cost €200 more each.
The latest Bosch Performance Line CX drive, now in its fourth generation, provides the necessary power. With 250 watts of power and a peak torque of 85 Nm, there are enough reserves to master a steep section or simply relieve your thighs comfortably.
Hydraulic disc brakes from Shimano are used here so that you can be braked properly when driving at full speed. With 180mm brake discs at the front and rear, you can safely decelerate and bring the wheel to a standstill. Of course, the ergonomics of the brake levers can also be adjusted with tools to suit a wide variety of drivers and their fingers.
Bulls Copperhead EVO AM1: technical details and features
The geometry is suitable for the product name. An all-mountain specific frame with a relatively slack steering angle. In addition, the frame is relatively long: This means that the bike appears stable and smooth-running and thus conveys a plus in driving safety.

The equipment is also rather inconspicuous, the air suspension fork from Bulls can also be blocked, making it easier to pedal uphill. Shimano also supplies a 10-speed Deore drive. The ten gears are also quite sufficient, since the cassette is very wide with 11-46 teeth. The advantage here is clearly durability, because we expect significantly less wear and tear thanks to the wider and more stable chain.

Bulls Copperhead EVO AM1: conspicuously inconspicuous driving impression
Once the saddle height has been set, the tire pressure checked and the suspension elements adjusted to your own weight, you're ready to go. The uncomplicated and intuitive operation of the Bosch Purion display allows you to quickly get on and drive off without having to study the operating instructions for a long time.
On the first few meters, a pleasant and safe driving experience is immediately noticeable. Or is it not noticeable? It is already so familiar and inconspicuous that it always gives a safe impression. With the various support modes Eco, Tour, E-MTB and Turbo, the Bosch motor is always in the right place and the propulsion and support feels very natural.
The stem, on which the SP-Connect system can be fixed with a simple turning movement, offers great integration. With the right mobile phone protective cover, the mobile phone can be clipped on and used as a navigation device on longer tours.
On the trail, if it doesn't get too steep, the 140mm chassis offers sufficient reserves and sufficient safety off-road. This means that the driver is always in control. Due to the relatively long wheelbase, the Bulls Copperhead runs very smoothly and yet it can be steered through curves and terrain with agility. When things get tight, the Shimano brakes are a bit small depending on the situation.
With a view to small details, the conclusion is quite positive and we can give a clear purchase recommendation for beginners in the e-mountain bike sector.
