Maximilian Levy made it. The German individual starter won the gold medal in the sprint. At the age of 33, the man from Cottbus managed to win the European Championship in an individual sprint for the first time. In the final he defeated the Russians Denis Dmitriev clearly. Bronze went to the Lithuanian Vasilyus Lendel. Tomorrow Maximilian Levy will try to win another medal in the keirin.

"This is indescribable! I haven't understood that yet. I've been extremely restless and nervous since last night. But in the race I got a grip on myself and just pulled through. Every run was on the limit, even if it didn't look like it."

Second gold medal for Matthew Walls

He can already look forward to his second gold medal at this European track cycling championship Matthew Walls (Great Britain). After he had already won gold in the elimination race the day before yesterday, he was also the fastest man in the field in the omnium today. With 128 points he won before Yauheni Karaliok (Belarus) and Yuri Leitao (Portugal), who got 116 and 115 points respectively. Elisa Balsam (Italy) scored 135 points in the women's category and thus advanced Laura Kenny (Great Britain) and Maria Novodolskaya (Russia) to gold. The two scored 126 and 114 points respectively.

All-Russian women's sprint final

Russian was spoken in the women's sprint final. Anastasia Voinova (Russia) triumphed in front of her compatriot Daria Shmeleva (Russia). Olena Starikova (Ukraine) won bronze. In the one-man pursuit may Nah Evans (Great Britain) as the new European Champion. She won with a clear lead Martina Alzini (Italy) and Silvia Valesecchi (Italy).
