Swiss Track Cycling Championships Bronze

Cycling: Bronze for Switzerland at the European Track Cycling Championships. Yesterday in Plovdiv the Confederates were able to celebrate their first medal in the team pursuit. Today Maximilian Levy is the only German starter fighting for a medal in the sprint at this European Championship.

Maximilian Levy is in the sprint semifinals

Good start to the European Track Cycling Championships for Maximilian Levy. The only German starter reached the semi-finals in the sprint yesterday on the second day of the European Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. That's where he meets today Vasilyus Lendel (Lithuania). In the possible final then either waits Denis Dmitriev (Russia) or Sotirios Bretas (Greece).

Switzerland takes bronze in the team pursuit

On the second day of the European Track Cycling Championships, Switzerland was able to celebrate its first medal yesterday. In the small final, the Swiss won bronze in the team pursuit. Gold went to the Russian foursome, who even caught up with the Italians in the final. A new world record was almost set for women. The Brits missed the record time they set themselves at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro by just two tenths. Silver also went to Italy ahead of Ukraine. In the men's scratch was allowed Yuri Leitao (Portugal) before Roman Gladysh (Ukraine) and Oliver Wood (Great Britain) celebrated gold after single-handedly claiming a lap win over the opposition. Elinor Barker (Great Britain) lived up to their role as favorites in the women's elimination race. Rachele Barbieri (Italy) won silver before Mary Martins (Portugal).
