Test: The German manufacturer Storck has already caused a stir in the last few days with some new models for 2021. This is also the case with the latest model in the racing bike/road sector, the Storck Aerofast.3 Comp Disc. With this aero entry-level model, Storck Bicycle is now taking up its already successful Pro model as a Comp variant, making fast riding pleasure accessible to a wider audience.
If you look at the hard facts of the new Storck Aerfast.3 Comp Disc, with a total weight of only 7,5 kilos, you might think that this could be a climbing all-rounder. But far from it, because with the Aerfast.3 Comp you are going more in the aero direction and want Storck's product range to include a high-end aero racer with a streamlined design, an elegant look and high-quality features, which will stand out in comparison to the Pro version the use of other carbon fibers differs only minimally.
Clean and Fast - The new Storck Aerfast.3 Comp
If we have already addressed the topic of optics, we must of course go straight to one of the highlights of the new Aerofast, because the complete system integration of the trains gives the aero racer a clean and tidy look, which is otherwise only found in significantly more expensive models in this price segment is. The main part of this is due to the handlebar-stem unit specially developed by Storck, which not only enables internal cable routing and thus ensures a tidy, elegant cockpit, but also saves a few watts. The sleek look of the brisk aero entry-level model from Germany is complemented by its stealth matt black finish with glossy black lettering.
All the technical properties of the Aerfast.3 Pro model, such as the particularly aerodynamic fork, are taken over at the highest level in the Comp version. The Aerfast.2 also has some technical improvements compared to the previous model Aerfast.3:
- Improved power transfer: A full 45 watts less are required to maintain a speed of 11 km/h
- More efficiency: 13% higher steering head stiffness and 10% higher bottom bracket stiffness
- Increased driving safety: 14% higher lateral stiffness of the fork
- Increased driving comfort: 13% higher spring stiffness of the seat post
"I'm super happy that we can offer such a fast and extraordinary road bike in this price segment. With this star among aero racing bikes, Storck is making a first statement for the coming road season and is presenting the Aerfast.3 Comp Disc, a world-class entry-level aero road bike.” – Markus Storck

Storck Aerofast.3 Comp Disc review
Our test bike was equipped with mechanical Shimano Ultegra and DT Swiss P1800 carbon wheels, which impress with a good combination of aerodynamics, rolling characteristics and weight and support the frame's performance. No savings were made on the Continental Grand Prix 5000 tires either and one of the first-class all-rounders was installed.
Already on the first few meters we could clearly feel that this bike is designed for fast tours, high speed and attack. Because the geometry in particular is very sporty and comes with a rich saddle-handlebar elevation. To do this, you grip the handlebars at a comfortable distance and don't sit too stretched out. The handlebars have to be mentioned anyway, because they not only look good in terms of looks or aerodynamics, but can also convince with pleasant ergonomics. Thanks to the complete integration of cables and cables, the cockpit fits into the overall concept for aerodynamic advantage. Unfortunately, you can of course also see here that you are somewhat limited from an ergonomic point of view and when it comes to individual adaptability. Nevertheless, a nice and clean option, especially on a bike in this price range.
If the keyword has already been mentioned, where do we want to stay on topic and go into aerodynamics. This is in no way inferior to other top models that we have tested so far and ensures good rolling characteristics and a higher average speed on every journey. The bulbous fork should also do its part and offers an unusual look that not everyone should like. Technically certainly useful, everything else remains a matter of taste. Of course, with so much speed, the necessary smoothness should not be neglected. The Storck Aerfast.3 Comp lies firmly on the road, even at high speeds, and doesn't lose its composure that quickly.
But the bike is by no means sluggish, because the good rigidity and thus power transmission ensures direct propulsion and makes life easier for us in many situations. Especially in the bottom bracket area, you also benefit from this when pedaling out of the saddle and get snappy acceleration. Every start is really fun and you sometimes even hope for a red traffic light in order to be able to accelerate again. Unfortunately, the Aerfast.3 struggles a bit in handling on technical passages. Although this is precise and accurate, it takes time to transfer the steering movement to the entire wheel. Drivers who prefer to let it roll and are not looking for constant changes of direction on their routes are exactly right on this bike, because here it can show its full strength and also give beginners the necessary security. Still quite hard at the front, the Strock Aerfast.3 Comp is very comfortable at the rear thanks to the combination of seat post and frame, which not only supports us on longer rides, but also on choppy sections.
An equally important point about this aero racer is the weight. This is just 7,7 kilos on our test bike and, in combination with the high-quality carbon layups and the good power transmission, ensures great climbing properties, especially when it's not too steep, riding uphill with this bike is really fun. So full speed ahead on all levels and always a brisk companion, that Storck Aerofast.3 Comp Disc Ultegra.
