3 November 2020 by Michael Behringer

Roglic Barta Vuelta in Spain

Cycling: Primoz Roglic is again the leader of the Vuelta a Espana. In the time trial on stage 13 he took enough time from Richard Carapaz to regain the red jersey. The Slovenian won with a one-second lead over the American Will Barta.

The exciting fight for the Vuelta podium

After the Tour de France and the Giro d'Italia provided pure excitement up to the last second, the Vuelta a Espana is preparing to become a fight up to the last kilometer. As in France and Italy, the time trial also plays an important role in Spain. Today's battle against the clock was fought over 33,7 kilometers from Muros to Mirador de Ézaro. Before the start, the top 4 separated only 35 seconds, the first two only 10 seconds. While in goal the Portuguese Nelson Oliveira (Movistar) held the best time, the Irishman rolled at 16-minute intervals from 30:2 p.m Daniel Martin (Israel Start-Up Nation), the Brit Hugh Carthy (EF), the Slovenian Primois Roglic (Jumbo – Visma) and the Ecuadorians Richard Carapaz (Ineos) from the ramp.

Roglic recaptures Red with a win

The American Will Barta (CCC) managed to undercut the previous best time at the finish. However, the focus of the viewers and TV station was on the top 4 in the overall ranking. Shouldn't come as a surprise Daniel Martin lose a lot of time. In the fight for the podium, the Irishman suffered a severe setback. It went better for Hugh Carthy. The Brit was faster than the leader Richard Carapaz. An even faster time only succeeded Cousin Roglic. The Slovenian was able to undercut the best time by one second and thus takes over the red jersey again. He now leads Richard Carapaz and Hugh Carthy respectively by 39 and 47 seconds.
