Cycling: The 2020 cycling season is over. It was interrupted, then extended and finally became one of the most exciting of the last few decades. We look back on all the happy winners of the WorldTour races held.
The cycling year 2020 was strange but exciting
We will probably only find a few positive words about 2020 in many years to come. The corona pandemic has been a burden on society as a whole since March at the latest - including cycling. Teams are threatened with dissolution, drivers with unemployment. And numerous races are not only postponed, but cannot be held. All of this made for a curious cycling season in 2020, in which success had to take a back seat. But from August to October, many races were made up for - and the fans experienced pure excitement. All three major national tours were only decided on the last stages. The one-day races were tough. At the end, the deserved winners cheered.
Cycling season 2020: These are the lucky winners
With Tadej Pogacar and Tao Geoghegan Hart, a young outsider is celebrating both the Tour de France and the Giro d'Italia. Remco Evenepoel won several tours at the age of just 20, including the Tour de Pologne, which is part of the WorldTour. After a painful defeat in France, Primoz Roglic manages to repeat his victory at the Vuelta a Espana. The German Maximilian Schachmann celebrates his greatest success on the Paris – Nice long-distance journey. And Wout van Aert? The impression almost everywhere, wins among others Strade Bianche and Milan - Sanremo.
