Product news: The BH Core Carbon is the latest achievement by the Spaniards and at the same time takes BH Bikes' Unlimited Cycling concept to the next level. With an in-house 65 Nm drive, powerful battery including range extender, a total weight of just around 12,5 kilos and a clean and attractive design, this new e-racing bike should support all riders in being able to go beyond their limits and still be a classic to have driving experience.
The BH Core range was launched in the 2020 season and aims to offer lightweight e-bikes with a natural riding experience. The new BH Core Carbon is characterized by its low weight of around 12,5 kilos. This was made possible by a carbon frame based on the same manufacturing technology as the recently presented RS1 road bike.
The Core Carbon uses all the know-how that BH Bikes has collected over many years as part of its commitment to professional cycling and on the racetracks of the world. This is why the same Toray carbon fibers and the HCIM manufacturing process are used for the frame and forks on this e-road bike, which ensures a low frame weight of 1.370 grams. In terms of aerodynamics, the e-racer was also based on the new racing machines, which is why the frame was designed in the KammTail design. In addition, the full integration of cables and trains was implemented on the BH Core Carbon for the benefit of aerodynamics and a clean look. Thanks to the ACR system, the cables are routed directly from the cockpit through the headset into the frame.
BH Core Carbon - With in-house drive to success
The heart of the BH Core Carbon is the in-house 2ESMAG drive. This should have a significant share in the natural riding experience of the e-racing bike from Spain. Thanks to its magnesium housing, the 65 Nm motor, weighing only 2,2 kilos, is definitely one of the lightweights. The bike draws the energy for the drive primarily from the 540 Wh battery, which is hidden inconspicuously in the down tube. Only on closer inspection can you see that this must be an e-racing bike, since the down tube differs only minimally in shape from, for example, aero racers.
The battery integrated in the down tube should already support up to 165 kilometers of travel. For all those who want to go further or are traveling on extremely hilly/mountainous terrain, a so-called range extender is used, which increases the total capacity even further. With the XPro range extender, the driver has a further 180 watt hours available, giving the BH Core Carbon a whopping 720 Wh. According to the manufacturer, this should mean a range of around 220 kilometers. The range extender is a bottle-shaped battery with a Plug & Ride connection. To use the range extender, simply insert it into the bottle holder and you're ready to go. When the holder is not used for the extra battery, it acts as a normal bottle holder and can be used with conventional bottles without any problems.
In addition, the drive is built so compactly that a low Q factor of 163 mm is achieved. In addition, optimal handling and agile driving characteristics should be offered by the lowest possible center of gravity of the e-racer. One of the most important points for e-bikes has always been the loss of power or the resistance that has to be overcome when pedaling. With the Core Carbon, great care has also been taken to ensure that the motor runs almost without resistance and is very quiet. In addition, the drive has been specially tuned so that the transitions between the individual support levels are pleasant and smooth for a natural riding experience.
BH Core Heart Display
Another elegant solution on the BH Core Carbon is the Core Heart Display. This has a minimalist design and is fully integrated into the headset cap. The control button can be used to select and switch between 4 support levels. The colored LED lights indicate the charge status of the battery and the mode currently in use. In addition, the performance and acceleration parameters can be individually adjusted on the smartphone with the core app. Garmin devices can be connected to the integrated Core ANT+ receiver in order to display all information (e.g. charge level, cadence, support level, range) about the additional device.
BH Core Carbon – 5 models can now be individually designed
The BH Core Carbon is available in 5 standard variants, two for gravel and three for the road, and is individually configurable via the BH Unique program on the website. Here you have the opportunity to set up your bike individually and put it together from 32.000 different color combinations. The new e-racing bike from Spain is available from 5.499 euros.
