BMC Awards XC World Champion With Golden Fourstroke: Golden bike for the golden boy:

31 October 2020 by Joseph Kucher

2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 - the Swiss Nino Schurter was able to secure the world title in the Olympic cross-country competition five times in a row. This unique series had to be broken. Jordan Sarrou from the Absolute Absalon BMC team succeeded at this year's World Championships in Leogang. A special achievement that his bike sponsor BMC honors with a very special four-stroke bike. In addition to the most coveted five stripes in cycling on the jersey, there was a golden team bike from sponsor BMC, which in future will signal “Here comes the champion” from afar.

The past world championships in Leogang were a complete success for the Absolute Absalon BMC team. Third place for Titouan Caroud and the 3-year-old Jordan Sarrou secured the title in the men's event. The road to the title was not easy. Days of rain and the already technically demanding track in Leogang made the race slippery. Jordan Sarrou coped best with the difficult conditions and was ultimately able to secure the world championship title very clearly with a lead of 27:1 minutes.

In the end, Jordan Sarrou's work equipment was probably a factor in the success, especially since two of the first three riders were out and about with the BMC Fourstroke.  The current evolution of the BMC Fourstroke has been on the World Cup circuit since last season. The bike has all the features of a modern XC bike. But there is one detail that many riders in the World Cup circus are jealous of.

The BMC self-developed dropper post with autodrop function solves a problem that worries many XC riders. Many racers do without conventional dropper posts because you have to put weight on the saddle to lower them. This can cost valuable seconds in the race. If, after a steep ascent, you are pedaling straight into a technical descent, you first have to “sit down” in order to lower the saddle. Here you can sometimes get out of step with us. lose touch. BMC's Autodrop post lowers the post at the touch of a button without putting weight on the saddle. This makes use more flexible and the driver can lower the seat post more often without losing important seconds. In addition, the support is an eye-catcher, because the variable support from the BMC Impec Lab can hardly be distinguished from a conventional support.

The World Champion BMC: Explained in the video

How does Autodrop Technology work? There is an air chamber with compressed air in the seat post. This can be filled via a conventional valve located above the bottom bracket. The pressure lowers the saddle. The content of the air chamber is sufficient for approx. 90 cycles. If the air is empty, the support works like a conventional dropper support.

Hardly recognizable from a conventional support….
.... except for a small valve above the bottom bracket.
