Giro d'Italia #20 Preview: Tomorrow we're going three times to Sestriere

23 October 2020 by Michael Behringer

Giro d'Italia Geoghegan Hart Hindley

Cycling: Tomorrow's Giro d'Italia is the last mountain stage on the program. This had to be changed due to the Corona regulations in France. Nevertheless, we expect attacks from the top 3.

Giro d'Italia Sestriere

Velomotion Prediction: Tao Geoghegan Hart vs. Sunweb

Actually, the 20th stage of the Giro d'Italia should have made a detour to France. The program included the climbs Colle dell' Agnello, Col d'Izoard and Montgenevre. Due to the Corona regulations in the neighboring country, the course of the penultimate section was changed. Now, after a flat start, it goes up three times to Sestriere. The stage is still not easy, but as a result, tomorrow's section has lost the title of king's stage. But either way there will be action. This is ensured by the constellation in the overall ranking. The top 3 are within 15 seconds. With Sunday's final time trial in mind, the contenders for the Maglia Rosa will get their last chance in the mountains today. So attacks are inevitable, especially from Team Ineos. Tao Geoghegan Hart will be looking to claim his second stage win and yet unseat the Sunweb duo from the throne.

☆☆☆ Tao Geoghegan Hard (Ineos)
* * Jai Hindley (Sunweb), Pello Bilbao (Bahrain – McLaren)
* Wilco Kelderman (Sunweb), Jakob Fuglsang (Astana), Joao Almeida (Deceuninck – Quick-Step)
