Product news: Long tradition, modern two-wheeler portfolio - this is how Diamant's offer for the 2021 season can be summarized. After we already took a look at the new e-bikes a few days ago, today we dedicate ourselves to the non-motorized bikes for the next season. Here, too, we have discovered some highlights.
Diamant 136: returban bike?
The 136 from Diamant is certainly not a bike like any other: A modern urban bike with solid to high-quality equipment that exudes the vibe of the 90s and has its own charm. The light aluminum frame with rigid fork, together with the large-volume Schwalbe 29er tires, achieves a good balance between lightness and comfort, thanks to the wide graduated cassette of the Shimano Deore 1-speed drive, even steep ramps are no problem. While the lighting system together with the hub dynamo increase the suitability for everyday use, you have to do without mudguards or a luggage rack - but if you miss them, you can easily retrofit them thanks to the appropriate mounting points - even a lowrider can be attached to the front.

Diamant Rubin Legere: Sporty all-rounder
Slim frame, sporty equipment, modern geometry: The Rubin Legere is the athlete in Diamant's trekking segment. With a weight of less than 13 kilograms, despite full equipment including hub dynamo, lighting, luggage rack and mudguards, it puts a smile on your face when you accelerate. The omission of a suspension fork and the decision to use derailleur gears with one chainring underlines the sporty ambitions of the Rubin Legere and fits in very well with the concept.

Diamant Elan: Those declared dead live longer!
For years, the death of two-wheelers has been prophesied for the classic trekking bike. Outdated, too heavy and anyway without a chance compared to e-bikes, so the tenor. However, bikes like the Diamant Elan clearly show why modern trekking bikes still have their right to exist and that they have lost none of their versatility in 2020. With weights from 14,6 kg - despite all-round carefree equipment - they are a good ten kilograms lighter than comparable e-bikes and with prices starting at 799 euros they only cost a fraction. Thanks to their derailleur gears, they bring a good dose of sportiness and the well thought-out choice of components with hydraulic disc brakes, puncture-proof tires and lighting including hub dynamo make the Diamant Elan models excellent companions for everyday life.

Diamond 247
Carefree city bikes are always popular: With the 247, you get an extremely low-maintenance package with the combination of Shimano hub gears and Gates carbon belts, which can also shine with high everyday suitability, even if you have to do without a luggage rack ex works. In both trim levels you also get a bright lighting system and hydraulic disc brakes. The fact that a suspension fork is not used in view of the urban area of use is a good thing - and contributes to the pleasantly low overall weight of the Diamant 247.

Diamond 018
Mountain biking or trekking? Paved path or forest road? Questions that you don't have to ask yourself with the Diamant 018: It bridges the gap to mountain bikes and breathes life back into the once successful category of all-terrain bikes. With a full-fledged MTB suspension fork - although only with 60 mm of travel - and wide tires, it clearly shows its off-road DNA, while lighting, mudguards and luggage racks speak a much more versatile language. A promising concept; a compromise is the Altus circuit with three chainrings, which offers a wide range, but overall does not quite suit the sporty, ambitious character of the 018.
