DUAL SYSTEM - One light, two systems: Cateye presents new StVZO lamps with a modular lighting system

Cateye dual system

Product news: Cateye presents a very innovative lighting system with the DUAL SYSTEM, which is used in the new front lights GVolt 100 and G E100. With these models, the lamp head can be completely detached and, in addition to the original lamp, can also be attached to a separately available rechargeable battery or e-bike energy module. At the same time, the manufacturer is focusing on more sustainability, since when the battery performance decreases, only the battery has to be replaced instead of replacing the entire lamp.

The DUAL SYSTEM, completely newly developed by Cateye, is based on a modular structure and thus has a number of advantages. The innovative lighting system is used in the new front light models GVolt 100 (battery) and G E100 (e-bike). The detachable lamp head can be exchanged between different, separately available e-bike or battery power modules. By purchasing additional energy modules, owners of several bikes can switch the lamp head quickly and easily between different bikes, whether with or without electronic support. With the separately available additional battery, the burn time can also be conveniently increased on longer trips. Thanks to the detachable lamp head, the front light can be mounted above or below the handlebars as desired.

Battery lighting Cateye GVolt 100 with DUAL SYSTEM

The StVZO-approved GVolt 100 battery-powered front light offers a luminosity of up to 100 lux for night trips. A completely newly developed Opticube lens is intended to ensure strong and homogeneous illumination. According to Cateye, the new lens ensures large-area illumination in the near and far range and captures the environment far beyond the road, even on winding sections. The striking convex design of the Opticube lens also increases visibility from the side.

Overall, the Cateye GVolt 100 provides three different modes with 10 lux, 60 lux and 100 lux, the lighting duration ranges from 15 hours to 1,5 hours depending on the selected mode. The lamp switches to the brightest mode with a double-click, via the mode memory function the lamp returns to the mode last selected when switched on. According to the information, the cartridge battery can be fully charged via a USB port within 3,5 hours. In addition to the FlexTight mount, which is optimized for all bicycle handlebars, it is also possible to attach the GVolt 100 to out-front mounts, alternatively it can also be attached to GoPro mounts with a separate adapter. The price of the battery lighting Cateye GVolt 100 is 149,99 euros.

The new Cateye G E100 e-bike lighting also features DUAL SYSTEM technology. Like the battery-powered lighting Cateye GVolt 100, the e-bike front light comes with 100 lux luminosity; when not in use, the lamp can be dimmed to 10 lux. The direct connection to the e-bike battery ensures that there is sufficient power to operate the lamp. The lamp and battery are connected with a two-core cable with free ends. The lamp is compatible with all common pedelec systems (DC 5,5-14,5 V). A direct installation without additional cable is possible with Shimano systems after approval of the vehicle or parts manufacturer via the specialist trade.

The lamp head with Opticube lens, which is identical to the GVolt 100, also ensures ideal illumination for the e-bike front light. With the separately available additional battery, the Cateye G E100 can also be converted into a battery front light. The front light is optionally mounted above or below the handlebars with the CATEYE FlexTight system, on out-front brackets or via a GoPro mount. The G E100 is available for EUR 119,99.
