Product news: With the BH Core hardtail, the Spaniards are sending an extremely exciting e-MTB into the 2021 season - with a new mid-engine made of magnesium and 65 Nm, a large 540 Wh battery and the option of a range extender and weights of less than 20 kg.
The BH mid-motor celebrated its premiere in the BH Core GravelX, which was presented this spring and already convinced us back then. The response from retailers was very good and the engine was able to prove itself - the Basques are now following suit and are offering the mid-engine for various purposes in different versions. The new BH Core Hardtail is the top version: Equipped with a new magnesium housing, it saves 300 g compared to the well-known version and thus weighs 2,2 kg. The performance remains the same - the motor applies a maximum of 65 Nm to the chain. Thanks to the integrated freewheel, the drive decouples above the 25km/h limit and offers no noticeable pedaling resistance.

On the Core HT, it is also powered by a battery with an impressive 540 Wh capacity that is permanently installed in the down tube. Remarkable because the down tube hardly seems thicker than that of a regular mountain bike. The compact dimensions also apply to the drive unit itself, which disappears almost completely behind the chain ring and also has a pleasingly narrow Q-factor at 163 mm. Back to the battery again: The system is open to a range extender with 180 watts, which can then be used to increase the total capacity to 720 Wh. This comes in the look of a drinking bottle and is also attached to the bottle holder - it is already included in the price of the top model BH Core Pro.
The drive is operated via a newly designed, minimalist control unit on the handlebars and the proven X-Display, which already celebrated its premiere on the AtomX and, in our opinion, is one of the best E-MTB displays on the market.

[blog specific=“142259″]In detail: The BH Core HT 29
We were allowed to take a look at the exciting new BH E-Hardtail in advance. The inexpensive version of the BH Core HT weighs around 19 kilograms - remarkable, given the sometimes quite heavy add-on parts and the aluminum frame. A weight with an 18 in front of the decimal point should be easy to implement with manageable financial outlay. Nice!

BH Core HT: The two equipment variants
The BH Core HT will initially be available in two configurations. Both stand on large 29 inch wheels and come with a suspension fork with 100 mm travel. The area of application should therefore be more in the off-road touring area than in hardcore trail action; The finely profiled tires from Maxxis and the mounting points for a luggage rack on the frame also speak for this. It is commendable that both models rely on a 12-speed gear system from Shimano and that the entry-level version also uses a Rock Shox air suspension fork.
