Vos strong but too early in the wind - Deignan wins

Even if there is no Tour de France for the women yet, they got the chance to present themselves at the Grand Boucle for the seventh time today. The one-day race La Course by Le Tour de France with start and finish in Nice had to cover 96,0 kilometers. With 45,0 kilometers to go, it was once more Annemiek van Vleuten (Mitchelton-Scott), which provoked a preliminary decision. On the climb, the Dutch world and European champion attacked so resolutely that the entire main field disintegrated and only a few companions were found. The six of them were able to assert themselves against the pursuers and finally decide the victory among themselves. Despite multiple attacks in the end remained Marianne Vos (CCC – Liv) cool and closed all the gaps independently. But no matter how strong the Dutchwoman was, she just started the sprint too early on the home stretch. So could the Brit Elizabeth Deignan (Trek – Segafredo) out of the slipstream and still pass. Landsfrau secured third place Demi Vollering (Parkhotel Valkenburg).
