Cycling: Giacomo Nizzolo brought the European Championship title back to Italy after his teammates had done some excellent preparatory work. In the bunch sprint he left the Frenchman Arnaud Démare behind in the photo finish. Germany's Pascal Ackermann won bronze.
Giacomo Nizzolo is the new European champion
We could count on a mass sprint in Plouay after 177,5 kilometers - with this winner rather less. James Nizzolo from Italy opposed Arnaud Demare from France and the Germans Pascal Ackermann enforced. The Italian proves once again that the 2020 season is a better one for him. Only three days ago he became Italian champion. A stage at Paris – Nice and the Santos Tour Down Under he could win too. Thus, the Italians get the European title for the third time in a row, after Matteo Trentin and Elia Viviani previously triumphed.

Women's U23 European Championship: Franziska Koch narrowly misses the medal
The U23 girls were also on the circuit in Plouay before the elite men. After 6 laps, the possible stars of the future completed 81,9 kilometers. After a little more than 135 minutes of driving time, the Italian was able to win in a mass sprint Elisa Balsam push through. Silver went to the Dutch woman Lonneke Uneken before the Danish Cecilie Jorgensen. With fourth place, the German just missed out on a medal Franziska Koch. Two days ago she already won silver in the individual time trial.
