Cycling: Max Kanter was also in excellent shape on the third stage of the Czech Tour. In the mass sprint he took second place this time behind winner Jordi Meeus.
Sprint arrival despite 5 mountain classifications?
Puncheur festival or mass sprint? You could ask yourself this question before the start today. Because the third part of the Czech tour led the riders from Olomouc to Frýdek-Místek over 5 mountain classifications, but since the most difficult sections were already in the middle of the stage, a sprint finish was not out of the question. leader Luke Durbridge (Mitchelton – Scott) was hoping for another day in the leader's jersey and accordingly for a rather moderate 206,1 kilometer long stage today. And the 29-year-old Aussie got lucky as everything came back together after the biggest challenges of the day. The race started all over again at the end of the stage on the slightly bumpy circuit.
Max Kanter is only just defeated by Jordi Meeus
After the breakaways of the day were caught early, the sprinter teams controlled the race. Now nobody was let go and the mass sprint was forced at the finish. Like yesterday turned out to be Jordy Meeus (SEG Racing Academy) as the fastest man. This time the German was able to sprint behind him in second place Max Kanter (Sunweb), who had to settle for third place yesterday. Martin Lass (Bora – hansgrohe) was third. The Czech Tour will decide tomorrow. On the way to the finish in Šternberk there are a total of 9 mountain stages to climb.
That was a close finish!
