Wahoo Tickr X: In tune with the times

July 18, 2020 by Florian Nowak

Test: The new Wahoo Tickr and Wahoo Tickr X chest straps offer the best wearing comfort with their ergonomic fit and also provide a wide range of functions. The new Tickr X, for example, now sends even more detailed running analysis data to smartwatches and end devices.

With a new edition of its Tickr heart rate monitors, the fitness manufacturer Wahoo provides detailed measurements and the best connectivity with a comfortable fit. Both the Tickr and the Tickr X have been given a new design and updated firmware.

A new, slimmer shape and integrated strap design make the latest Tickr and Tickr X the lightest heart rate monitors on the market at just 48g (pod and strap together). Both devices now apply only 12mm under the functional clothing. Both straps can now pair up to three Bluetooth devices simultaneously in addition to the ANT+ connections. For ease of use, the LEDs are now located at the top of the pod, making it easy for users to verify that their devices are connected and recording data. By increasing battery life by almost 50%, the heart rate belts powered by a CR2032 button cell now allow up to 500 hours of battery life.

“We redesigned the Tickr and Tickr X to offer users state-of-the-art functionality in a design that is effortless to use and very comfortable to wear. TICKR and TICKR X redefine the requirements for a heart rate monitor. They combine unmatched performance, comfort and wearability, whether you're running a quick lunch break or running a marathon.” – Katie DuPree Wahoo Product Manager

Wahoo Tickr X

Long a favorite of cyclists, runners, and fitness enthusiasts of all stripes, the Tickr X is updated in its updated form with the ability to stream indoor cycling cadence to the Wahoo Fitness app. In the running area, the new belt offers improved running dynamics data transmission to compatible smartwatches via ANT+. This gives runners real-time access to their cadence, vertical run amplitude and ground contact time. The Tickr X also offers all runners a proprietary Running Smoothness score to improve their efficiency and running form via the Wahoo Fitness app. The smart heart rate monitor can record up to 50 hours of training data and synchronize it with the smartphone via the Wahoo Fitness app. Everything with the best comfort and for an even better evaluation of the training.

The new stealth design further enhances the Tickr, long known for its ease of use and comfort. As an addition to the well-known white and blue Wahoo color design, the Stealth variant also fits seamlessly into the Stealth bundles with Elemnt Roam and Elemnt Bolt bike computers.
