Certified elbow and knee pads for Enduro and Trail: New saver collection from PEARL iZUMi

1 May 2020 by Andrew Waldera

PEARL iZUMi

Product news: The new protection collection from PEARL iZUMi offers light mountain bike knee and elbow protectors for Enduro and Trail. According to the manufacturer, the CE Level 1 certified elbow and knee protectors focus on a pedal-friendly fit, effective protection and comfortable wearing for hours.

PEARL iZUMi

In the enduro and trail sector, elbow and knee pads are now part of the basic equipment for most riders. So that the protectors can be worn even on extended tours, they should of course be as inconvenient as possible. It is also important that the protectors are in the right place throughout the ride. When developing the new protective collection, Pearl iZUMi focused heavily on the fit of their already successful arm, knee and leg warmers. The aim was to be able to offer trail and enduro bikers light protectors with an extremely pedal-friendly fit and CE Level 1 certification. The result is the Elevate and Summit models, each with elbow and knee pads

The new Elevate elbow pads

Both the Elevate and the Summit Elbow and Knee Guards come in an extended stocking design with a silicone print on the inside. Both models do not use heavy and annoying Velcro or zippers. The viscoelastic D1621O LP1 material should ensure sufficient protection with EN-3-1 certification. The soft, flexible and shock-absorbing polymer mixture stiffens in a fraction of a second on impact, dissipating energy and reducing the transmitted force. The D3O tri-ventilation technology should ensure good ventilation in sweaty passages. The mountain bike knee and elbow protectors are available in five sizes from XS to XL.

The medium-heavy Elevate knee and elbow pads were specially designed for trail and enduro use. Extremely hard-wearing 4-way Cordura stretch fabric is used on the front. The continuous mesh fabric should ensure high freedom of movement and breathability. To prevent wrinkles from forming when pedaling, there is an opening at the back of the knee. The Elevate protectors are available at a price of 129,95 euros for the knee pads and 89,95 euros for the elbow pads. The Summit Elbow and Knee Guards for trail riders are a super light protective version. According to the manufacturer, the protectors should hardly be noticeable when driving and can therefore be worn during the entire journey without any problems. The price is 89,95 euros for the knee pads and 69,95 euros for the elbow pads.
