German E-Bike Championship

The 3rd German E-Bike Championship will be postponed to next year due to the Corona crisis. As the OAI eV and promoter Baboons announced, the 18./19. The event planned for July 2020 cannot be implemented under the current specifications. As a specific reason for the cancellation, the organizers give the lack of planning security and the lack of statements about possible conditions imposed by the authorities and the government. In Bavaria, there is currently a ban on major events until at least August 31, 2020. It is criticized that it is still completely unclear what exactly is to be understood by "major events". The 3rd German E-Bike Championship will now take place in 2021, the exact date will follow shortly. According to information, the Ochsenkopf event location should also remain in the program in 2021.

Peter Hanke from Bikepark Ochsenkopf: “The cancellation is very difficult for us. However, we currently see no possibility of planning further given the unclear approval situation.” Hubert Stanka, President of the OAI eV explains: “There is no question that the government and authorities must protect the population and do so in an exemplary manner. It is a pity, however, that the entire events industry is being plunged into uncertainty due to the lack of planning security. In addition, the previous state aid programs for organizers - be they clubs or companies - are not very suitable. Apparently, the special requirements are either not understood or not acknowledged.”
