Six days - six nights: Berlin celebrates 100 years
It is now 111 years since the first six-day race was held in Berlin. Back then, enthusiasm for track cycling began in the exhibition halls at Bahnhof Zoo. Nowadays, the pros do their laps in the Berlin Velodrom on Landsberger Allee. The development from the beginnings in 1909 to 2009 - just 100 years later - is presented in the documentation by Heinz Brinkmann.
In addition to the historical aspects, of course, drivers also have their say, such as the legends Bruno Risi from Switzerland and Olaf Ludwig from Germany. But the trappings are also eyed. Because the Berlin six-day race would be nothing without the shows and spectators who make the sporting event a real spectacle.
