Laigueglia/Almeria: Ciccone wins in Laigueglia, Ackermann in Almeria

Cycling: Giulio Ciccone (Italy national team) and Pascal Ackermann (Bora – hansgrohe) clinched their first wins of the season this Sunday. While the Italian won the Trofeo Laigueglia, the German was successful at the Clasica de Almeria.

57th Trofeo Laigueglia: Ciccone triumphs as a soloist

After 203 kilometers with the start and finish in the Italian municipality of Laigueglia Julius Ciccone (National team Italy) as a soloist happy about the victory. The Italian crossed the finish line 31 seconds ahead of the Eritrean Biniyam Ghirmay (NIPPO DELKO One Provence) and his compatriot Diego Rose (Arkea – Samsic).



The Trofeo Laigueglia has been held since 1964. In the list of winners are mainly Italian professionals. Among others, this one-day race was won by Filippo Pozzato, Danilo Di Luca, Johan Museeuw, Lance Armstrong and Eddy Merckx.

Ackermann Ciccone

35th Clasica de Almeria: Ackermann repeats last year's victory

As in the previous year Pascal Ackermann (Bora – hansgrohe) won the Clasica de Almeria. The Palatinate was able to advance in the mass sprint alexander kristoff (UAE Team Emirates) and Elia Viviani (Cofidis) prevail. The 187,6 kilometer one-day race with start and finish in Roquetas de Mar has been held since 1992. Despite the long history, Pascal Ackermann is the first professional to win this race twice in a row. Among others, Caleb Ewan, Mark Cavendish, Sam Bennett, Michael Matthews and Ján Svorada were successful here before him.
