Cycling: Jai Hindley (Sunweb) is on the verge of winning the overall title after his second win of the day at the Herald Sun Tour. The Australian was also the strongest up Mount Buller, while Germany's Jonasrutsch (EF) won the Most Fighting Rider award.
Jai Hindley extends his overall lead
The Herald Sun Tour concludes tomorrow in Melbourne. However, the overall winner already appears to be decided today. Following his victory on the second day's climb to Falls Creek, leader Jai Hindley (Sunweb) also won today's mountain finish on Mount Buller. The 23-year-old Australian prevailed at an altitude of 1.584 meters ahead of his compatriots Sebastian Berwick (St. George Continental Cycling Team), Jay Vine (Nero Continental), and Jesse Ewart (Sapura Cycling). Jai Hindley now leads the general classification by ten seconds over the 20-year-old Sebastian Berwick. Damien Howson (Mitchelton-Scott) and Neilson Powless (EF) are 36 and 51 seconds behind, respectively.
Jonasrutsch was part of the breakaway group
The fourth stage of the Tour de France, which runs through the Australian state of Victoria, was dominated for a long time by a seven-man breakaway group, which included Jonas Rutsch (EF), a rider from Germany. The valiant fighter in pink and blue even won the award for most combative rider at the end of the day. However, he was ultimately unable to contest the stage win.
