Cycle Cross DM: Favorite wins by Meisen, Brandau, Brenner & Lindner

12 January 2020 by Michael Behringer

Meisen German Championship Radcross

Cycle cross: At the German cyclo cross championship, the spectators in Albstadt saw the victories of the favorites today. While Marcel Meisen triumphed in the elite men, as expected, Elisabeth Brandau in the women, Marco Brenner in the juniors and Tom Lindner in the U23 class lived up to expectations.

Marcel Meisen dominates the Cycle Cross Championships in Albstadt

Marcel Meisen won his fourth title in a row and his fifth overall at the German Championships in cyclocross. On the course in Albstadt, he beat Sascha Weber by 44 seconds and Manuel Müller by 1:34 minutes to second and third place.

Brandau, Brenner and Lindner also celebrate favorite wins

For women, it can Elizabeth Brandau celebrate their third German championship title in a row. Started as a favourite, the 34-year-old left her competitors behind Kim Anika Ames and Stephanie Paul clearly behind. On the 2,6-kilometer course in Albstadt, she attacked in the first of five laps. Nobody could follow her, so that in the end she crossed the finish line safely with a lead of almost one and a half minutes.

Super-Talent presented itself in a similarly confident manner Marco Brenner. The 17-year-old from Augsburg won the juniors' race with a lead of twelve seconds Jasper Levi Pahlke and with 39 seconds ahead Tim Neffgen. Two defects could not slow him down. Marco Brenner will sign a professional contract in spring.

As expected secured himself Tom Lindner the championship title in his first participation in the U23 class, after having triumphed as a junior in the previous two years. 25 and 43 seconds behind him were happy Maximilian Mobis and Maximilian Krueger about silver or bronze.
