Federal Cycling Meeting 2020: Short interview with head of organization Uwe Meinke

January 10, 2020 by Andreas Waldera

Spectrum: The preparations for the Federal Cycling Meeting 19, which will take place in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania from July 25th to 2020th, 2020, are already in full swing. The “Petermännchen Marathon”, which is part of the German Cycle Marathon Cup, marks the start of the event on the Sunday of the event. Participants can look forward to attractive RTF routes throughout the week. Uwe Meinke, head of organization of the Federal Cycling Meeting 2020 in Schwerin

Hi Uwe, what's new from Schwerin?

Hi Bernd, a lot! Northern Germany is hot for the federal meeting in our state capital and we look forward to the participants from all over Germany. The Danes also want to be there again. We can start soon.

That sounds good. Are you ready?

Yes, of course, we are looking forward to day X. We have the commitments from the cycling clubs in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania that will provide the helpers, and the routes are already finished. You can already check them out on our homepage www.brt2020.de.

Perfect, that's really far.

Yes, with the experience of the BRT 2015 in Boltenhagen, I know that the little things usually come at the end. So we are glad that the foundations are already in place, now it's time for the interior design. But I know I have a good team at my side, everyone has their tasks.

Who are the pillars of your team?

First and foremost Iris Turlach from the MV cycling association and Christian Holz here from Schwerin. Iris takes care of the helpers and is the link to the clubs. Christian knitted the tours and he is our expert for scan&bike. The entire registration system is handled via this, which makes our work enormously easier. By the way, we want to start pre-registration right at the beginning of January. The sooner we know what's coming, the better we can plan. And if you register earlier, you save on the entry fee.

That's correct. Where is the event center located?

We are in Schwerin in the "Lamprechtsgrund" at the sports and congress center, with the sports facilities, the House of Sports of the State Sports Association and our association office. We'll put up a big tent that can hold 300 to 400 people, I liked that in Cottbus back then. During the tour week, the tent is the central meeting point and offers space for registration, catering and aprés bike. At the closing party it will be nice and cuddly.

I'm happy for that. What is certainly already of interest to many is the accommodation situation. How does that look?

On the site we have a small parking space for caravans and mobile homes. We can offer a maximum of 20 parking spaces. The tourism agency at www.schwerin.de is responsible for everything else. Mecklenburg is a holiday destination and the hotels are well booked in summer anyway. Well, we do a lot, but we can't get accommodation or reserve contingents at cheap prices.

That is understandable. Great Uwe, thanks, that was fun. We'll do that again soon, there's always something to report.

Yes, of course, see you soon!
