Vuelta San Juan #2: Fernando Gaviria celebrates first win of the season

Cycling: Fernando Gaviria (UAE Team Emirates) has won the second stage of the Vuelta a San Juan. The Colombian was able to prevail in the mass sprint in front of Marco Benfatto (Bardiani-CSF-Faizanè) and Javier Naranjo (Agrupacion Virgen De Fatima). He also takes the lead in the overall standings.

Gaviria takes overall lead ahead of Barbier

On the second stage of the Vuelta a San Juan, a favorite won. Fernando Gaviria (UAE Team Emirates) won the second leg of the mass sprint and took the lead in the overall standings. Peter Sagan (Bora – hansgrohe), however, should be dissatisfied again. The three-time world champion was only placed #5.

Tomorrow at the 38th Vuelta a San Juan there will be a 15,2 km time trial from Ullum to Punta Negra. This is followed by hilly and even mountainous stages. The pros will have a rest day on Thursday.
