Cycle cross: The Corendon – Circus team achieved a triple triumph at the Zilvermeercross in Mol, Belgium. Behind dominator Mathieu van der Poel, his teammate Tom Meeusen took second place. Brother David van der Poel completes the podium.
Corenon - Circus is in a class of its own
Of course, Mathieu van der Poel (Corendon – Circus) also won his ninth race of the season with ease. Like yesterday in Kortrijk and at the previous events, he didn't give the competition the slightest chance at the Zilvermeercross in Mol. This time, however, the course of the race looked a little different. After he was able to get a small lead with his brother David van der Poel (Corendon – Circus), he was allowed to rest a bit in the slipstream.
But when the rivals got closer again, the reigning world champion accelerated again. He immediately shook off all his companions. Even a fall in the sand couldn't stop Mathieu van der Poel. As a soloist he finally finished five seconds ahead of Tom Meeusen (Corendon - Circus) and 14 seconds ahead of his brother David van der Poel (Corendon - Circus). Thijs Aerts (Telenet Baloise Lions) finished fourth, 20 seconds back.
