Radcross: Mathieu van der Poel just can't be beat. The Dutchman didn't give his competitors a chance at the first Urban Cross in Kortrijk either. His lead of almost half a minute only remained so small because he already took his foot off the pedal on the final lap.
Van der Poel wins his 34th consecutive cross race
Dominance has a name: Mathieu van der Poel (Corendon – Circus). With his victory at the Urban Cross in Kortrijk, the Dutchman celebrates his 34th victory in a row. After six laps he accelerated in a long flat section to put a few meters between himself and his remaining six companions. After that he kept up the pace. The gap increased to over half a minute and the race was decided.
The lead would probably have been even greater if Mathieu van der Poel hadn't let it roll out in the final lap. Behind him came Tim Merlier (Creafin – Fristads) in front of Toon Aerts (Telenet – Baloise Lions). Eli Iserbyt (Pauwels Sauzen – Bingoal) once again failed to live up to his own expectations in fifth place.
