Track European Championship: Brausse secures gold from Brennauer

18 October 2019 by Michael Behringer

Franziska Brausse European Track Cycling Championships

Cycling: The German women were also successful on the third day of the European Track Cycling Championships in Apeldoorn – and how! In the individual pursuit, the BDR was even able to celebrate a double victory. Franziska Brausse won gold ahead of Lisa Brennauer. In the sprint, Lea Sophie Friedrich was faster than Emma Hinze in the fight for bronze.

Brauss dethrones Brennauer

Very strong - that's how the BDR women's performance at the European Track Cycling Championships in Apeldoorn has to be called. Because even on day #3 of the European Championships, the Germans were given medals. In the one pursuit but there was a surprise. Because Franziska Brausse managed to defeat compatriot and defending champion Lisa Brennauer in the final. After gold and silver in this competition, the set of medals in the Sprint completed. Because Lea Sophie Friedrich and Emma Hinze lost their semi-finals, they competed against each other in the small final in the race for bronze. There, Lea Sophie Friedrich finally got the upper hand. Gold went to Russia's Anastasiia Voinova ahead of Ukraine's Olena Starikova. Germany shouldn't win a medal in the third women's competition today. In the Omnium Once again, Kirsten Wild from the Netherlands won the gold medal.

No medal for the men in the Sprint & Omnium either

While the women have been successful every day so far, the men have been lagging behind the competition at the European Track Cycling Championships in Apeldoorn. Because even today it should not be enough for a medal in any competition. gold in Sprint went to the Dutchman Jeffrey Hoogland ahead of his compatriot Harrie Lavreysen and im Omnium to the French Benjamin Thomas before the Dane Lasse Norman Hansen.
