Cycling transfers: Denz & Sütterlin to Sunweb, Mas to Movistar

August 9, 2019 by Michael Behringer

Cycling Transfers Denz Sütterlin

Cycling Transfers: The Sunweb team will strengthen their German faction for the coming season. As announced today, Nico Denz and Jasha Sütterlin are joining the team. Meanwhile, the Spanish team Movistar has reacted to the numerous departures and signed Enric Mas for 2020.

Sunweb gets a bit German

Many cycling fans still don't know that Sunweb is a team under a German license. This is mainly due to the fact that there are hardly any Germans under contract with the team. At the beginning of the year, there were five Germans in Nikias Arndt, Johannes Fröhlinger, Lennard Kämna, Max Kanter and Max Walscheid, but they were not among the team's winning drivers. Over the course of the season, Sunweb signed another talent in Florian Stork. Since this month, Martin Salmon has been allowed to come along as a trainee. For the new season stock now Nico Denz (AG2R La Mondiale) and Jasha Sutterlin (Movistar) continues to increase the contingent. In addition, Lennard Kämna has developed so strongly in recent months that a German-speaking team could be built around him. Rumor has it that Bora - hansgrohe is already interested in a commitment. No wonder, because as a strong climber, Kämna would do well alongside Emanuel Buchmann.

Cycling transfers: all transfers at a glance – status: 9.8.

With Nairo Quintana, Mikel Landa and Richard Carapaz, the Movistar team lost three important drivers. Now the Spanish team has reacted on the transfer market. As was almost to be expected, Movistar Enric Mas Nicolau (Deceuninck – Quick-Step) signed for the coming season. The Spanish talent is a perfect match for his new squad, where he's a tour leader. The Cofidis team is also upgrading to be a part of the WorldTour in the future. After it was already known that with Elia Viviani (Deceuninck - Quick-Step) a top sprinter will be signed, the French have now also hired the services of GC drivers William Martin (Wanty – Groupe-Gobert) secured.
