Cycling: Maurice Ballerstedt won the silver medal in the juniors' European road race. The 18-year-old was able to prevail in the sprint of a three-man chasing group in the battle for second place.

EM road race of the juniors: home double victory

The Dutch women also dominate their home road cycling championships in Alkmaar on the third day. After gold medals in the individual time trials of the elite and the juniors, as well as victory in the mixed relay, there was now also golden precious metal in the first road race of these European Championships. Ilse Pluimers managed to escape the field and save a four-second lead over the laps. Behind her sprinted compatriot Sophie van Rooijen to silver and thus a Dutch home double victory. The Frenchwoman Kristina Nenadovic could look forward to bronze. Unfortunately, the German-speaking participants had less reason to celebrate on the course, which was only 69 kilometers long. Went as the best German Judith Krahl but still on a remarkable 19th place. Best Swiss woman Noelle Buri on the 21st and best Austrian Marie Loschnigg on the 41.

The Netherlands also won a medal in the U23 class. This time it should be in the person of the only 19-year-old Lonneke Uneken reach for bronze. After 92 kilometers, only the Italian winner was faster Letizia Paternoster and silver medalist Marta laugh from Poland. And the German team also presented themselves strongly. That's how the 19-year-old ended up Franziska Koch in fifth place. The Swiss woman Aline Seitz finished ninth.
