Product news: Product news: Canyon Ultimate CF Evo Disc – lightweight champion under 6 kilos

July 11, 2019 by Florian Nowak

Product news: With the Canyon Ultimate CF Evo Disc, the Koblenz-based bike manufacturer presented its new lightweight champion today. A special feature of this racer is of course its impressive weight of less than 6 kilos (in size M and without pedals). All this with the best performance and yes, you heard “disc brakes”!

After several stages of development and over the years, the Canyon Ultimate Evo has been continuously improved and advanced. The result of this concept is now a first-class road bike without disadvantages with essential performance values and an impressive weight of less than 6 kilos.

This is only possible thanks to the highest precision and the best materials. Canyon's high-end carbon developments were used for this and everything was assembled by hand. With such a low weight, the stability must not suffer, which is why the Canyon Ultimate CF Evo Disc was subjected to the same strict standard Canyon tests as all other bikes that come onto the market.

The new CP20 cockpit saves another 15% weight compared to the previous model.

The heart of the Canyon Ultimate CF Evo Disc is the extremely light carbon frame, which weighs just 641 grams. Then there's the fork, which weighs 285 grams. Everything is made from a mixture of ultra-high modulus and ultra-high-tension fibres, which in a special layup ensure stiffness, stability and, of course, low weight.

With such a high-quality frame, of course, you shouldn't skimp on the equipment for weight reasons alone. With an in-house carbon cockpit, the CP20 Evo, you could save a good 10% in weight compared to the predecessor CP15 with the same performance, which means a weight of 270 grams. A stem almost weighs that much. The switching group relies entirely on the new Sram eTap AXS 2×12, which saves cable routing thanks to the wireless connection. For the wheels, the tried-and-tested DT Swiss PRC 1100 Dicut db 24, which comes in a limited 25-year edition, was used. The whole thing is supplemented by the 120 gram light Schmolke carbon seat post and a 61 gram light Selle Italia C59 saddle.

Since the devil is in the details, as is well known, attention was paid to everything and features such as an integrated carbon front derailleur base, special thru axles and titanium screws were used. All with the aim of offering the best performance under 6 kilos.

The Canyon Ultimate CF Evo Disc is available today for 10.000 euros.
