Product news: With the BH G8 Disc, the Basque premium manufacturer is presenting the latest model in its constantly evolving G-Aero concept. With the new G8, BH Bikes has combined the advantages of an aero bike with the riding characteristics of a classic bike, thereby designing an all-rounder for lots of riding fun and performance.
The development of the new G8 Disc focused specifically on disc brakes in order to meet the demands of today. Despite the disc brakes used for the G8, the engineers at BH Bikes were able to develop a particularly light and stiff racing bike that implements a completely new level of integration. Because the cables and trains are routed through the handlebars and stem in the frame with ACR integration, thus reducing the air resistance of the front and enabling a clear, elegant design.
The HCIM process (Hollow Core Internal Molding) used for frame production enables BH Bikes to produce a particularly light frame through complete control and calculation of the material thickness in the preparation of the production process, which, with its laminated seat dome, has an impressive weight for an aero bike of only 920 grams. The aerodynamic details were also fine-tuned in the wind tunnel. Thanks to computer-aided analysis, the flow dynamics of the frame have been improved compared to the previous G7 model and the BH G8 Disc has been made even faster.
The rear end of the G8 Disc has also been further optimized in the area around the flat-mount brake mount in order to ideally distribute the additional braking forces of the disc brake. The tire clearance of the rear triangle has also been increased to accommodate tires up to 28mm wide. The shape and structure of the chainstays and seat stays have also been made finer and asymmetrical, which is reflected in a successful balance between propulsion and driving comfort.
The overall aerodynamic package is completed by the levers integrated in the 12mm through axles, which enable the axles to be removed without tools, the DI2 battery integrated in the seat post and the aerodynamically designed clamp of the seat post. With regard to the geometry of the G8 Disc, it was strongly based on the previous model - the frame is clearly sloped and is agile but at the same time smooth-running.
The G8 Disc will be available in two color combinations and three equipment variants from autumn 2019
with Ultegra, Ultegra DI2 and Dura Ace DI2, from €3.999 to €8.999.
However, the new BH G8 Disc is already being used in the Tour de France. None other than Andre Greipel will use the bike for his stages. With 157 victories in 18 years of racing and 16 grand tours, André Greipel is not only one of the most successful athletes in road cycling, but with his strong performance as a sprinter he is also an athlete who places special demands on his bike. The new BH G8 Disc is designed to do justice to this - as an aerobike it saves valuable watts and its stiff frame converts every pedal stroke into propulsion.
