Breakaway group without a chance

Take a deep breath on the Tour of Austria. After the tough mountain climb on the Großglockner yesterday and the upcoming mountain climb on the Kitzbühler Horn tomorrow, today there was a transfer stage to complete. A total of 161,9 kilometers had to be cycled from Bruck via Gerlos to Kitzbühl. Tom Wirtgen (Wallonia – Bruxelles), Brice Feillu (Arkea – Samsic), Andi Bajc (Felbermayr – Simplon catfish), Michael Podlaski (Wibatech Merx 7R), as well as the Austrian Mario Gamper (Tirol KTM Cycling Team) and the German Yannick Achterberg (Maloja Pushbikers) formed the leading group of the day, but they were caught again before the finish line.

The preparation for the mass sprint was still chaotic. There were multiple falls. Arkéa – Samsic drivers made a mistake when approaching the last right-hand bend. Wasn't impressed by that Jannik Steimle (Voralberg – Santic). The German won ahead of his fellow countryman Jonah Koch (CCC) and the Austrian Patrick Gamper (Tyrol KTM Cycling Team). There were no significant changes in the overall ranking.
